This article on stickyminds.com reminded me of how divisive a prima donna can be on a team.  I've experienced this same affect (no I wasn't the prima donna you twit ;-) on a team where a member left, and the team became more productive.  Something to think about in your development team dynamics, since I believe developers inherently think they can do a better job than the person who originally coded their software.  At least that's been my experience.  I'd love to hear any other war stories about other teams.
