Quick Upgrade to the Beta 2 Technical Refresh for Project Server 2007
I haven't seen this covered anywhere else, at least in quickstart form, although there are a lot of detailed walkthroughs, including this one at technet. So I thought I'd pass this on for anyone else looking for a quick start to installing the TR. BTW, this is for an existing Beta2 install with minimal data (in other words, I don't care what happens to existing data). First thing to do is to stop your Search Service from the administrative panel in Sharepoint. Next, remove Windows Workflow Foundation using your Add/Remove Programs from control panel. Now you can install the asp.net 3.0 framework. Get that here.
Next install Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Beta 2 Technical Refresh from the Beta TR web page. Just install that (it will restart IIS and some other services), then go ahead and install the Project Server 2007 Beta 2 Technical Refresh. Once that is done, you will be prompted with a Sharepoint Producst and Technologies wizard. If you're in a farm you will have to repeat this process for all servers, there is a reminder here. My sandbox is not a farm, so I don't have any pointers for you there. I also had to remove a setting in my registry (see this install procedure here). Once I had done those things, my setup went fairly smoothly. Hopefully that works for you so you can play with this cool new technology!
