Local DevDays - done!
I just arrived home from local MS DevDays (event took place in Tennispalatsi, Helsinki). Bit tired, 4 hours driving total as I left home at 6.00AM and was back at 8.00PM, but very happy. It was well-arranged event and definately worth the "trouble".
No surprise that we were given lots of information about VSTS, DSL, Architecture, ASP.NET 2.0, SOA and so on. All presentations were good but the one by Arvindra Sehmi, Lead Architect in Microsoft EMEA Developer and Platform Evangelism Group, about Service-Oriented Connected Systems (SOCS) was amazing! It was major learning experience for me as I haven't had a chance to have a good look in SOA. It is always enjoyable when truly experienced speaker can make the presentation so good and just like that, so naturally. I'll link to his presentation material when I get my hands on it.
Another great moment was that local MS Developer & Platform Evangelism Group (be warned, some of the content in Finnish) had got 9 local MVPs and our local MVP Lead, Pär Karlsson, together for a lunch with the group. We didn't have that much time to discuss, we just introduced ourselves and had a few words, but it was a good start. I hope we will get more local MVP events and have co-operation with the local MS people.
Finally, thanks to fellow Finnish MVPs, it was nice to meet you and thanks to the people at local MS. See you around!
EDIT:
As Aali mentioned on the comment post, indeed I forgot to mention the evening event. Mostly because I didn't attend it, I was in hurry to head home and put my kids to sleep :-) After all, it was 2hrs driving one-way and it would have been almost mid-night before I'd be at home, if I would have attended. But I'm sure it was fun for those who did attend.
I know Aali took some pictures during the event. Hopefully he'll put them public, well, at least in CodeZone.
