Orcs Goblins and .NET

I enjoy reading and writing. I hope you enjoy at least the former.

SimpleCMS on CodePlex

A couple of weeks ago Steve Smith and I released SimpleCMS as an open source project on CodePlex. SimpleCMS is, as the name suggests, a Simple Content Management System. It is a small ASP.NET 2.0 Plug-in which allows dynamic creation of simple pages. I've not gotten much opportunity to work on it in a long time, but I did manage to get enough time to put it on CodePlex.

The main goal of SimpleCMS is to be simple. It isn't designed to support a lot of features or be bloated. It is designed to be lightweight. I recommend checking it out if you get the chance. The project could use some more development, and if I get the free time I'll try to work on it a bit.

Let me know what you think about SimpleCMS.

Tried it out - some very nifty ideas in there but the editor (I suspect FreeTextBox is at fault here) does not work in FireFox - the content renders in an IFRAME and is not accessible in the Request.Form["ContentText"] - works fine in IE 6.0

Yes, it is FreeTextBox, and I've been thinking about switching it for a while now.

Thanks for the feedback.

I was wondering if the source code would be made available or not. It is almost exactly what I am looking for. The only thing I would change is the ability to upload images through the editor and the ability to add Role protection for certain pages. Other than that, I love the simplicity of it. The users I create sites for that want to change page content are not tech savvy enough to learn how to use some of the more powerful CMS apps out there and this is so nice and clean and simple.

@Angela The full source code for Simple CMS is available on CodePlex. You can download it with a compiled release of Simple CMS from here.

Or you can head to the source control section and download it.
