On Being Normal
Hey, after about five months of dieting and exercise I have achieved normalcy (so to speak). According to the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta I have achieved a BMI of 24.9 (at least as of a week ago) which puts me in the normal category for my height! Wahoo! Finally, despite everything that you all say, I am normal.
Boy, it feels good, however fleeting it might be. I am continuing to bike, run, and eat wisely although the later is probably the hardest for me because (surprise) I love to eat! My goal is to stabilize a pound or three below the upper edge of normal and then try to maintain that position with exercise. I still don't know if that's possible for me because to be perfectly honest even when I was training actively for marathons a couple of years ago I was still considered overweight according to the CDC charts which tells me that my natural tendency is to be overweight event when exercising aggressively. Which means that even as I go off logging my points into my Weight Watchers journal, I will still have to follow the basic tenets of the WW program (which, by the way, are pretty smart).
So here's to being normal (for as long as it lasts)!
