Many years ago, Ken Getz, Mike Gilbert, Mike Gunderloy, Greg Reddick, John Viescas and I (and a few others) came together at work on a development project in a converted farm house somewhere in Virginia (in fact, today, I have no recollection where it was except I believe we flew in and out of Richmond). Anyway, this was a harebrained scheme to create a software library for Access developers back in the days of Access 2.0 that this guy with some extra money to burn, Tom Kennedy, came up with.

It was a great reason to get together with some friends. I remember sleeping in the attic in a dorm style setting and there being a problem with wasps flying out of a hole in the floor. I had brought along a recently-released copy of the Access Developer's Handbook and quickly plunked it down over the hole. Ken and I made jokes about that use of the ADH for years.

Anyway, one thing that our cohort and friend Mike Gilbert had a habit of doing was showering. Mike would take like 5 showers a day as a break and perhaps provide himself with some programming inspiration. Here I am years later deep into a big project--namely a marathon week of recording SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services courseware--and rememembered Mike's technique.

I just tried it, and what-a-ya know, it worked. Probably more energy than a cup of coffee. So now that I have some newfound energy I better not waste it all blogging--back  to work. Thanks, Mike!
