ComponentArt Web.UI 2006.1 Beta is Now Available

ComponentArt is pleased to announce that the ComponentArt Web.UI 2006.1 Beta release is now available for download.

This first release of Web.UI in 2006 includes two brand new controls - WebChart Lite and Splitter - as well as significant enhancements to existing controls, and support for the new features of ASP.NET 2.0!

The Web.UI 2006.1 Beta release can be downloaded at http://www.componentart.com/downloadbeta.aspx.

WebChart Lite is installed separately through the full WebChart for ASP.NET installer, and can be downloaded at http://www.componentart.com/downloadchart.aspx.

Two New Controls

WebChart Lite for ASP.NET - adds charting capabilities to the Web.UI suite. WebChart Lite offers most of the features of the full WebChart control, but is limited to two-dimensional chart types and projections.

Splitter for ASP.NET - enables easy creation of interface layouts with resizable panels. Features of Splitter include: support for any table-like layout, ability to collapse and expand panes, pane scrolling, filling window width and height, ability to define (and switch between) multiple layouts, extensive server-side and client-side APIs, persisting state upon postback, and more.

Now Supporting Enhanced Features of ASP.NET 2.0

Offered as a separate version, ComponentArt Web.UI 2006.1 Beta is compiled against the .NET 2.0 Framework, and supports the following ASP.NET 2.0-specific features:

* Support for the ASP.NET 2.0 navigation architecture

* Declarative DataSource support

* Support for ASP.NET 2.0 skins and themes

* Enhanced handling of client scripts

* XHTML strict compliant output

Significant Enhancements to Existing Controls

Navigation Controls - The Menu, TreeView, NavBar, and TabStrip controls have been improved to offer richer client-side programming capabilities combined with a further optimized footprint and increased performance.

An industry first, the structure of ComponentArt navigation controls can now be completely controlled programmatically on the client. Navigation nodes at any level can be created, updated, or removed, and all changes are persisted to the server when a postback occurs. In addition, ASP.NET viewstate usage and server-side performance have been extensively optimized.

Grid for ASP.NET - The updated version of the ComponentArt Grid control includes extended editing capabilities, enhanced hierarchical views, new pager types, the ability to automatically adjust the page size, and more!

Subscription Customers

Web.UI for ASP.NET 2.0 is offered free of charge to all Web.UI customers with active subscription licenses.

Current customers with a Web.UI Subscription License have already been assigned a new license key for Web.UI 2006.1. This license key can be accessed through the 'My Account' -> 'My License Keys' page.

Planned Release Schedule and Upgrade Information

The full commercial release of Web.UI 2006.1 for ASP.NET will be available for purchase in late February 2006. Customers with active Web.UI Subscription licenses will receive the new version at no additional cost, with upgrade options available to those with earlier versions of the Suite. Watch for further details on upgrade costs in the coming weeks.

Sincerely,

ComponentArt Team
