Xceed Releases the Industry’s First WPF DataGrid

MONTREAL, QC - January 25, 2006 - Xceed today released Xceed DataGrid for WPF, an entirely free product, positioning itself as an industry pioneer in third-party components for Microsoft’s Windows Presentation Foundation.

Xceed DataGrid for WPF lets developers take full advantage of Microsoft’s dynamic new Windows Presentation Foundation platform. With Xceed’s WPF grid control, developers can create software that presents and lets end-users edit data in any 2D or 3D layout imaginable, such as 3D rolodex, carousel or timeline views. Traditional Outlook-style table and card views with fully commented source code are included with the product.

Designed and developed entirely for WPF and .NET 3.0, and written in C# and XAML, Xceed DataGrid for WPF is a true lookless, 100% stylable and templatable control. It features rich in-place editing that is available in all views, with configurable keyboard and mouse edit commands, and Excel-like default key bindings. UI virtualization reduces load time and memory usage, even when grouping. Production-quality table and card views with all Microsoft Windows OS themes are provided: Classic (NT), Luna (XP), Aero (Vista), and Royale (Media Center). Finally, its flexible and extensible object model with modular, reusable visual elements means that the grid can be adapted to any situation. Xceed DataGrid for WPF is an essential tool for any developer wishing to work with Microsoft’s Windows Presentation Foundation, which lacks a datagrid control.

Xceed DataGrid for WPF is being licensed for free, with an unlimited number of licenses being made available per company. Once registered, the grid control can be used indefinitely. Free bugfixes and updates will be released on a regular basis; consequently, software vendors and programmers can rest assured that it can be trusted with their most important projects and in the most demanding development environments. Community support is available in Xceed’s forums. Professional-level support and advanced updates are available on a subscription basis. Full C# and XAML source code is available in the Blueprint Edition.

Other features available in Xceed DataGrid for WPF include built-in data validation at the cell or row level (validation error display integrated with the included views), a rich 100% stylable and templatable WPF date picker and calendar control, XAML source code for all styles and templates, and full keyboard navigation through cells and rows. Bound or unbound data—or a combination of both simultaneously—is supported, as is full WPF data-binding.

Xceed DataGrid for WPF comes with comprehensive documentation that fully integrates into Visual Studio and a variety of C# and VB.NET sample applications.
