Infragistics unveils NetAdvantage for .NET 2007 Volume 1

East Windsor, N.J., & Elstree, United Kingdom – March 5, 2007–

Infragistics, the world’s largest publisher of reusable presentation layer development tools for Windows Forms, ASP.NET, Tablet PC and Java, has today released the highly anticipated NetAdvantage for .NET 2007 Volume 1. NetAdvantage for .NET 2007 Volume 1 allows developers to quickly build applications and style user interfaces powered by NetAdvantage controls, providing both standardized UIs, such as the new Office 2007 UI, as well as the ability to create professional custom styles. A new NetAdvantage AppStylist tool is now provided for rapidly styling ASP.NET applications, while the NetAdvantage AppStylist tool for Windows Forms now includes Express Styling. Significant enhancements have been added for both Windows Forms and ASP.NET controls, inclusive of US Section 508 Compliance across the entire toolset, 64-bit system support for Windows Vista, and the new Vista Aero (Glass) style.

In this release of NetAdvantage for .NET, Infragistics continues to raise the bar for Application Styling, usability and the end-user experience (application look and feel). Developers, architects and visual designers can quickly create a consistent (customized or familiar) look and feel for their applications by styling once, and then reusing their styles across their applications. Infragistics also provides a large selection of pre-built styles such as the new Office 2007 UI and Vista Aero (Glass). Previously, Application Styling was only available for Windows Forms controls, but a new NetAdvantage AppStylist tool is now provided for ASP.NET applications.

"Our customers continue to demand the benefits of Applications Styling as a critical element of their development philosophies, and we are pleased to be able to provide them with the next step in the evolution of cross-platform styling,” explains Jonathan Cohen, Infragistics’ VP of Marketing and Product Management.  “For the ASP.NET developer, we continue to leverage our NetAdvantage for Windows Forms innovations to the Microsoft web development community who wish to build rich internet applications on Web 2.0, further establishing Infragistics as the standard for .NET development”.

“We looked for a very long time to find a technology that helped us brand our applications.  Once we saw NetAdvantage AppStylist for Windows Forms, we found more than we needed,” said Tom Butts, General Manager, Accelecon. “After using the beta for NetAdvantage AppStylist for ASP.NET, we can now offer with great confidence the same rich and stylable Infragistics-based applications on the web as we currently do in Rich Clients.  My developers also thought the new resizing control in the ASP.NET toolkit is a great innovation, especially because is it built on the new ASP.NET AJAX framework from Microsoft.” Accelecon is a Tampa-based custom telecommunications service provider.

NetAdvantage for .NET 2007 Volume 1 includes a number of powerful new features and functionalities, allowing developers to maximize usage of Infragistics’ Windows Forms and AJAX-enabled ASP.NET controls and components.  Below is a partial list of the new controls and components that were added or enhanced for the 2007 Volume 1 release:

About NetAdvantage for Windows Forms New Features

Infragistics continues to develop and enhance components by innovating the styling of applications requiring true Microsoft Office 2007 look and feel, and providing predefined styles (silver, black, blue). Express Styling, an enhancement to the highly acclaimed NetAdvantage AppStylist, will appeal to Enterprise application developers who must adhere to (custom) corporate application UI standards and branding. Express Styling generates a custom style for an entire application based on a simple selection of colors from a palette. Infragistics provides the latest in Office 2007 functionality enhancements, now including Conditional Formatting in their flagship WinGrid, as well as new Ribbon functionalities such as RibbonMDI Merging and a new ControlContainer control on the Office Ribbon.

NetAdvantage for ASP.NET New Features

The newest addition to NetAdvantage for ASP.NET enables the easy creation of Rich Internet Applications (RIAs) using this CSS-based, mashup-friendly tool.  NetAdvantage AppStylist for ASP.NET allows developers to set a look and feel across ASP.NET controls or applications with a style library, at design or run-time, improving workflow and reducing maintenance costs. WebChart (which shares a core charting engine with WinChart) provides over (35) 2-dimensional and (25) 3-dimensional chart types, for dramatic, high fidelity visual data representation including Office 2007 style points. Notable as the first component vendor to support Microsoft’s AJAX extension 1.0, Infragistics has provided a new Resizer control built directly on top of Microsoft’s newest framework. WebGrid performance has been enhanced with the intuitive FilterRow  interface for improved data filtering, and Microsoft Excel integration is further extended with the new Excel copy and paste features.
