Both Developers And Non-Developers Can Now Create Superior Visualizations Without Additional Tools
March 19th, 2007 (Toronto) - Dundas Software today announced the debut of Dundas Chart for SharePoint, the company's latest data visualization offering and the most advanced charting component designed specifically for Microsoft's SharePoint portal technology.
"We've taken the best aspects of Dundas Chart for ASP.NET and - following the line of progression used with our Reporting Services product - we're now bringing Dundas chart directly to SharePoint," said Dundas President Troy Marchand. "Our customers have been demanding this for some time and we're delighted to now offer them superior charting capabilities for this comprehensive Microsoft platform."
SharePoint is a web-based collaboration and document-management environment developed by Microsoft to organize corporate data and provide a structure to otherwise dissimilar data. The Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS) platform is the latest version for sale and Microsoft also offers Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 (WSS 3.0), a free Windows 2003 server component.
The new Dundas charting product is an extension of Dundas Chart for ASP.NET 5.5 technology and optimized for SharePoint. But unlike other versions of Dundas Chart, the SharePoint design environment allows users to deploy the product by itself; applications like Visual Studio are not required.
"Dundas Chart for SharePoint will accommodate both .NET programmers who want to add advanced charts to SharePoint, as well as average SharePoint users who are unfamiliar with programming languages but want to quickly add a chart to a SharePoint page and connect it to data," Marchand explained.
Other highlights include the AJAX interactive features of Dundas Chart for .NET (e.g., tool tips, drilldown, zoom and scrolling), advanced data binding plus dynamic integration with the MOSS 2007 Business Data Catalog (BDC) and Excel Services.
Dundas Chart for SharePoint is available now via Dundas Software's and authorized resellers.
