WINTELLECT ANNOUNCES 2009 VIRTUAL UNIVERSITY COURSES

(Knoxville, TN)– February 12, 2009-- Wintellect, a consulting, debugging, and training firm specializing in Microsoft .NET and Windows technologies, today announced the release of its 2009 open-enrollment Virtual University offerings. The line-up includes in-depth classes on Silverlight, WPF, WCF .NET and Windows Debugging, and Threading. Dates, prices and abstracts for each class are as follows:

March 23rd-24th & June 8th-9th - Mastering Windows Presentation Foundation with Walt Ritscher - (2-day online, instructor-led class for $499). WPF represents the first significant change to the Windows graphics engine in over ten years. In this intensive course you will spend 2-days studying the pillars of WPF, experiencing the joys of XAML programming, and exploring the fantastic rendering capabilities of WPF. You will learn how to develop applications with a professional user interface that is powerful and easy for end-users to use.

April 27th-28th - Let’s Have a Silverlight Party with Jeff Prosise - (2-day online, instructor-led class for $499) In two action-packed days delivered in the comfort of your home or office, this course provides the knowledge and skills you need to leverage Silverlight to its fullest. It includes in-depth coverage of Silverlight 2, XAML, data binding, styles, templates, networking, browser integration, and much more, and it includes coverage of Expression Blend that is specifically tailored for developers who will be working with designers or performing design tasks themselves. At the conclusion, you’ll be fully prepared to go out and build great Silverlight applications that work right the first time and every time.

May 5th-6th – Mastering .NET Debugging with John Robbins - (2-day online, instructor-led class for $499) As part of John's Mastering .NET Debugging curriculum, you will learn an approach to debugging that has proven to help companies’ ship better code faster. The course gives you the leg up necessary to truly take advantage of the new debuggers and tools in Visual Studio .NET 2005 so you have a better chance of successfully deploying your first .NET applications. This course also discusses performance tuning in the .NET environment. If an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, then a few days spent with John Robbins, one of the world's foremost experts on debugging, could be the best investment your company makes all year.

May 26th-27th - Mastering Windows Debugging with John Robbins - (2-day online, instructor-led class for $499) Mastering Windows Debugging teaches an approach to debugging that has proven to help companies’ ship better code faster. Additionally, this course gets developers up to speed on the Visual Studio 2008 and Debugging Tools for Windows debuggers so when you are inevitably faced with a difficult C++ bug, you can solve it with the minimum of pain. Finally, this course delves deep into the techniques and approaches necessary to avoid those problems in the first place with your native applications.

June 2rd-3rd – Effective Threading: Mastering Responsive, Reliable, and Scalable Applications with Jeffrey Richter (2-day online, instructor-led class for $499) CPU manufacturers are not able to squeeze more speed out of CPUs; instead all CPUs are becoming multi-core. The only way applications can gain high-performance and scalability is by effectively using threads. In this two-day course, we'll discuss the value of memory models and volatile fields, thread pools, thread synchronization primitives, asynchronous programming, thread context management, debugging and testing of multi-threaded applications, and more. By the end of the course, architects, developers, program managers, and testers should have a solid understand of how these work and how to use them effectively. All demonstrations and sample code are in C#.

June 23rd-24th - Mastering Windows Communication Foundation with Paul Mehner - (2-day online, instructor-led class for $499) As distributed technologies mature, more and more applications benefit from distributed designs. Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) is the next generation technology from Microsoft for building distributed applications. Far from being just another whiz-bang technology, WCF represents a tectonic shift in the way distributed applications communicate. Since WCF is designed from the ground up to support service oriented designs, success with WCF requires much more than just understanding the WCF programming model. This 2-day Mastering Windows Communication Foundation course immerses attendees in the new SO paradigm, WCF Architecture, and the new WCF programming model.
