Nashua, New Hampshire, USA, August 6, 2009 – Kentico Software (http://www.kentico.com), the Web content management system vendor, today released a free Kentico CMS Connector for Microsoft SharePoint. The Connector allows business users to create content on their SharePoint intranet and publish it on the public-facing web sites powered by Kentico Web Content Management System. It helps organizations to work around the lack of Web Content Management features of Microsoft SharePoint and simplify the publishing workflow.
The fast adoption of Microsoft SharePoint leaves many organizations in a difficult situation. Since SharePoint doesn't provide a complete solution for public-facing web sites, they have to manage their on-line content in other systems. Kentico CMS solves this issue by allowing business users to create content in the SharePoint environment they are already familiar with and publish it automatically on the public Web sites instead of duplicating content in several applications. It enables organizations to publish content faster, with lower costs and with a better control over its life-cycle.
"While SharePoint was designed for intranets, Kentico CMS for ASP.NET provides a complete solution for public-facing Web sites. It complements the SharePoint functionality and enables organizations to leverage their existing investments into SharePoint and Microsoft .NET platform," explains Petr Palas, Kentico CEO. "If a marketing manager wants to publish news, she may need to get it approved by several people. Until now, she had to go through the internal SharePoint workflow and then copy and paste the content manually on the web site. Using the new Kentico Connector for Microsoft SharePoint, she can do everything in SharePoint and automatically publish content on the public web site," he adds an example.
Kentico CMS Connector for Microsoft SharePoint is available as a free download from the Kentico Web site at http://www.kentico.com/sharepoint.aspx. It can be used with any edition of Kentico CMS, including the Free Edition. It means companies with simple web publishing needs can extend their SharePoint to the web without additional investment into a Web Content Management System.
Kentico CMS Connector works with both Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007 and Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) 3.0. It support publishing of SharePoint document libraries, files, lists and pictures.
