    Informing Yahoo! about your sitemap

Vine Type PRO users have the ability to generate search engine sitemaps.  There are two types of search engine sitemaps

Google sitemaps actually came first and the industry reacted by declaring it, with Google's permission, as a de facto open industry standard.  The two formats are similar

    • Vine Type 2.0 generates Google Sitemaps (default.aspx?feed=googlesitemap)
    • Vine Type 2.2 generates Sitemaps (default.aspx?feed=sitemap)

But how do you inform the search engines of the url of your sitemap?  Through your robots.txt file.  Add a line such as this to your robots.txt file to inform all the search engines of your sitemap url:

    Sitemap: http://iamacamera.org/default.aspx?feed=sitemap

When Yahoo! Live Search ASK and other search engines crawl your site, the bots will read your robots.txt file and be informed of your sitemap URL. It's as simple as that!

    Sincerely,

    Carl
