I have downloaded the AspAlliance.SimpleCms.dll and FreeTextBox.dll and made the changes to the web.config file as mentioned... and i have created the database also.. but when i run my default page... it is showing the following message.. Simple CMS cannot establish a connection to the Database.

and when i click the SetUp Database button .... my page is redirecting to http://localhost/testCMS/admin.cmsx?setupdb=1 and giving me the error as 404- page can not found...

can any body tell me the complete process of how to integrate the Simple CMS with my site...

and how to create admin.cmsx file in my project....

How to make listbox multi selections work - Newbie needs help

I have an application to get average call scores per site I have a list of sites in a listbox to select from that have multiple select capability. Tried the IN in my query statement and when I select more than one site I just get the headers as a response with no data. Otherwise when I select just one site I get the appropriate response. ASP Form not working

I tried to create a form using if...then conditional statements. When the form is submitted, the message that appears on the screen is dependent on what number is entered.

Here's the code for the form:

I have a page called index.asp that contains a form. When user clicks submit he is taken to details.asp. Details.asp reads the values from the form in index.asp.
However, in index.asp i need to check if the session("username") is empty or not. If not empty i want to redirect the user directly to index.asp but to still read the values from the form as the form also contains hidden textboxes with values received from some place else that are very important to the system.
Is it possible to read the values from the form even if the submit button wasn't clicked?

Hello,

I'm a newbie to ASP.NET who is trying to insert a rough-and-ready email form into an .aspx page. I have inserted a javascript (pasted at end of this message) intended to collect form info and fire an email upon submit. However, when running the page I get a "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" error. Will the Javascript only work in a regular .html page, or can ASP.NET controls and Javascript play well together?

Also, when I test the form (in a seperate .HTM page), all of the results of the form get written to the email in one ugly, unbroken line, i.e.:

Name isBob SmithEmail isbobsmith@yahoo.comPhone is555-555-5555Fax is555-555-4567Message: test message

I'm using Mozilla Thunderbird, and testing the emails fired by the Javascript to my own address. Is there some way to format the javascript so that the emails sent by it will be formatted in a nice way, with carriage returns? i.e.:

Phone is 555-555-5555
Fax is 555-555-4567
Message: test message

Multiple submits on a single form.

In my classic ASP website, I have a registration form. On the form there are a couple of drop-down lists. The contents of the second list depend upon the selection made from the first list.

I need to somehow refresh the page after a selection is made from the first list, so the second list can be populated from the database. But I need to do it without losing the data already input. These fields are optional, so the user could skip them and progress straight to the Submit button.

It's probably really easy, but I've been unable to work out a way of doing it.

Can anyone out there help me?

Putting dynamic variable into the title and description tags

Our website has a dynamic news feed supplied by 3rd party and I'm trying to put a dynamic variable with the headline into the title and description tags so that the headline is in both of these tags.

The dynamic variable is presented this way in the page coding ...<%= objRS("AdferoHeadline") %>.

Can anyone help with this ? I've heard this can be done via the httpd.ini file.

I only have access to the asp pages on the site not the backend of server.

I have been asked to begin documenting an existing Classic ASP web application. At the moment I know nothing about UML or even if it's necessary to go that route. I've been looking all over the internet using Google and doing searchs on "Page Sequence Diagrams", "Page Flow" and "Data Flow Diagrams" too. Would anyone have examples, or be able to point me to somewhere on the net that will give a screen shot with an explantion or even a tutorial on how to do these diagrams and what they look like?

like wise income, duration of being at same job.. will be consider and a score will be given.. according to the score decisons shoild be taken.. eg: if the person got more than 60 out of 100 he will be eligible to get the card..

Client Side VBSCript issue in ASP

I am having an issue with client side VBScript in classic ASP.

We have a classic ASP application which uses OCX controls and while passing them as arguments to subroutines present in include files (for ex. gridfunctions.vb), It gives 'Type Mismatch' error.

But when the subroutine is present in the same asp file, It works fine. Any suggestions about why Its behaving this way ?

I have a need to have the parent page call a model child window. The user is then requested to enter a search value to return a list in the child window. The user selects the item and returns to parent. I can do the parent, model child and return to parent but when I try to post back to the child window I get a new window.

ASP, ASP.NET or JavaScript solution is fine.

Can somebody tell me where I can find the internals of Logging application block 2.0/3.0.

I need answers for the questions like:

What best practices have followed in the implementation of logging application block?

Is buffered writing is supported by this block?

Does it write synchronously or asynchronously to the specified destination?

Like, let’s say I am writing the log in the database then do I have to wait for completion of logging process or it is done asynchronously, so does my current thread do this for me or logging is handled by a separate thread?

Any other benefits I get by using the logging application block?

Why shouldn’t I for Log4Net of my own logger and use the enterprise library Logging Application Block?

Any clue or even a link addressing these issues will be a great help

I have searched the web but the samples are more complicated then I understand or need.

I need somting to just show how to encrypt and decript a given key.

Removing popup windows from application

Hi,

We have a web application written in ASP that uses popup windows, and of course there is nobody in the company today that worked on that application, or is very familiar with ASP. We are thinking about removing the popup windows from the application, but I am not quite sure what all is involved, or how big of an effort it would be to convert the application to not use any popup windows.

If I simply remove the window.open() and window.close() calls will that remove the popups from the application? Or is there more that needs to be done?

Are there any articles / resources on the web that gives pointers and caveats to convert an ASP application away from using popup windows?

Server.CreateObject Failed On Authenticated ASP Page Trying to Create .NET Component

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me on this. I'm at the end of my rope almost with this problem.

We are running a site written in classic ASP that uses Windows athentication. I'm getting a " Server object error 'ASP 0177 : 8013150a' Server.CreateObject Failed " error whenever it tries to create a .net component that another developer has written.

We are currently in the teting phase an we have a workaround. When I give a user administrative access to the testing server, the user is able to instantiate the component and use the functionality. Obviously this won't work past the testing phase so how can I run an authenticated ASP page and maintain administrative privileges for it to create the .net component withouht giving the users administrative access to the web server?

Any advice will be very much appreciated.
