The portal default uses a differnt CSS class for the menubar highlight than the subportals do. Annoying!

<h2>hmmm.. hmmm.. The current version of sharepoit IS annoying. More than once not just styles but also functionality was tampered by some strange "features". ASP.NET 2.0 has a working access control concept and also the masterpage and webparts stuff seems to work fairly. They should move on to these with Sharepoint as fast as they can !!!
